Education
PhD - Neuroscience, University of Calgary BS - Biology and Psychology, University of Waterloo I completed a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Calgary. I spent six years in a doctoral degree learning scientific methodologies and writing styles. I developed great public speaking skills and won awards for my ability to translate complex scientific topics to an everyday audience. Prior to my doctoral degree, I earned by BS in Biology and Psychology from the University of Waterloo. During this time, I took many general biology courses and more in-depth microbiology courses. Psychology was my minor degree where I learned about behaviour and teaching methods.
Experience
I have lots of experiences working with novice scientists. I mentored and trained incoming graduate students in neuroscience and academic writing. During my undergraduate degree, I was a genetic tutor for an introductory genetics course. Lastly, I volunteered at science open houses where I would teach children aged 4 - 10 to perform neat and fun science experiences.

Hobbies
I have many interests including but not limited to baking, cooking, puppies, running, sports, hiking, laughing, and reading. Being able to relate to children through shared hobbies is extremely important. It is important to "win them over", making them want to spend time with you. It makes learning a fun experience instead of something tedious they would rather not do.
